CONCEPT NOTE: FEMPANATH FARMS AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT
1. Company Profile: Fempanath Farms is an integrated, mechanised, commercial farm system operating in Oyo and Ogun states with a vision towards meeting nutritional needs of society. Currently developing an Out-growers / Off-taker scheme that will involve local farmers in surrounding and host communities.
2. Organizational Background: We’re an experienced agricultural organisation having established a Citrus orchard on 40-Ha farmland near Abeokuta, Ogun State, where we have planted more than 3,000 Sweet Orange and Lemon trees (from NIHORT) out of a planned total of 10,400 citrus trees. We have also planted about 400 Afara (from FRIN) and 287 Acacia trees along the farm boundary there. We have also been cultivating and producing Garden Eggs (yielding about 13 metric tons per hectare per year), together with Maize and Cassava in commercial quantities. We also have a 3,000 birds capacity poultry that is still growing and expanding.
3. Context: The agricultural sector is being transformed by government at national and state levels through commercialization at the small, medium and large-scale enterprise levels of rediscovery and refocus of the nations economy started in the late 2000’s with a view to diversifying the nations economy and increase the nation’s non-oil export. This policy shift has encouraged many organisations like ours (Fempanath Nigeria Limited) to begin implementation of our long-held Vision thus prompting us into taking action to develop the agricultural components of our company’s memorandum and article of association.
4. Rationale for the Proposed Project: Nigeria in the last few decades had established itself as a net importer of virtually all its food needs – spending billions of its hard- earned dollars annually on food import. With a rapidly growing population, there’s an urgent need to increase food production in order to meet the nutritional needs of society, for import substitution in order to conserve scarce foreign exchange earnings, as well as to produce agricultural produce and products for export to boast the nation’s foreign exchange earnings in the non-oil sector.
5. Project Goals and Objectives: Our new project in Oyo State under the Agribusiness programme is focused on production of industrial raw materials for import substitution and for export.
6. Project Strategy for Fempanath Farms in Oyo State: We are establishing plantations for production of Maize, Soybeans, Cashew, etc. as industrial raw materials and for processing into intermediate and finished products for Nigerian food, beverages and pharmaceutical industries and for export.
7. Innovation and level of investment: In view of our plan for large scale mechanization at commercial scale, we have. committed funds in excess of Sixty million Naira (N60,000,000) to the project and we have acquired a CAT D8K bulldozer for land clearing as well as our own tractor with associated implements for land preparation. Jhallen.
On our allocated 100 hectares farmland in Igangan Agro park, we have commenced cultivation since 2018 and we’re currently planting Maize while gradually developing a Cashew plantation.
8. Expected Results: Our targets which are supported by our mechanisation plan, are to produce the following:
| PRODUCTION IN TONS PER 200 Ha | REVENUE PER 200 Ha | Â | ||||||
| S/N | PRODUCTION LEVEL | MAIZE | SOY BEANS | CASHEW | SALES LEVEL | MAIZE | SOY BEANS | CASHEW |

We are also planting economic trees on our farms. We have so far planted, in 2019 alone, some 600 Afara trees (Terminalia Superba) on our Igangan farm (obtained from Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria – FRIN).
We plan to continue tree planting on our farm sites over the next ten (10) years specialising in Afara and Mansonia Altissima. This is aimed towards a future wood products processing plant.
– Similarly, we were allocated 750 hectares in Opara reserve the survey plan of which we’re expecting to enable us commence farm development on the 750-Ha Opara allocation.
